Elephant's 10 month bonus accelerator

Options
Hi

I'm looking to insure my first car next week and the best quote I can find is from Elephant.

Their 10 month bonus accelerator looks good but if I compare the market when my policy expires, will other companies recognise this as 1 year no claims or not?? If not and Elephant's renewal quote is high, then in the long term I will be paying more than I have to.

It works out as slightly more expensive for those 10 months than a normal 12 month policy so in the long term is it worth it?? Are Elephant's renewal policies competitive?? If they aren't maybe I should go with the normal 12 months and switch after a year.

Any advice??

Thanks

Elephant, Bell & Admiral are all the same company.

I used them for the 10 month bonus and after one year my renewal did include a certificate that did say one years no claims

Other insurers do not recognise the 10 months as being a year.

That's not strictly true, some wil some may not. If you have confirmation of one year then insurers should accept it.

Most will not accept it as 10 months does not equal 1 year.

my DH used to use elephant but has switched to churchill.

His no claims cert states 3 years and nothing about months.

this is going back about 5/6 years so it may have changed, but elephant was the first one i insured with and did the 10 month accelorator, and the proof of ncd had no mention of it being a 10 month accelorator and just had "1 years no claims" and was therefore accepted without question by the second year insurance company i went with

i did not go with them though to for this purpose, but rather to enable me to spread my car costs after the 1s year, (as the insurance was therefore 2 months earlier than the mot, and as i also put 6 months tax for the one year, and after that annually, i managed to get it so car insurance due feb, car mot/service due april and car tax due july etc, - or something along those lines) it meant that i would not have to pay all in one go

I also got my first years (or 10 months) no claims from Elephant, and as has been said the certificate for No Claims just states 1 year. My next insurer took it as that.
