Is it reasonable to expect EA's to contact all that have requested details

Thank you doozergirl. Now I have thought it throgh, from the point of veiw of a buyer, I would feel very hacked off if every time I asked for a set of details I found the agent hounding me for feedback.
...... as a seller one would expect it, as a buyer one would be hacked off. Agents sell for sellers

Spoke with the EA and they were very open. They said where a house wasn't being viewed after two/three weeks they would randomly call a number who had been sent details to see if they could help more or arrange a viewing. The EA said that not all those they tried to call were happy to talk, too busy, or spouse sent for details without the OH knowing. But even getting through to a person was at best 50/50 and people never called back when they left messages. EA went on to say to offer a service where they called every recipient of the details would mean one extra full time member of staff which would mean not being able to offer good rates and leave them uncompetative.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. When we've been looking and called requesting details, we've had anything from EA taking name and address and only the exact details requested being sent, to being asked the ins and outs of a duck's bottom and then being sent loads of details, to being called a couple of days later to see if anything that was sent was of interest and querying reasons why not.
The worst EA around here is a real pain. They just won't give in, which initially for a seller sounds like a good idea, but when they are calling you constantly and telling you they have made an appointment already (for something that is out of your price range or nothing like what you requested) it puts you off ever dealing with them.0 -
We chase everybody who has requested details every 2 weeks. This only applies to people who have agreed to be registered.
Every fortnight we go through the list of people who have requested details and ask them if any of the details are of any interest. Sometimes the person says yes, they hadn't got round to phoning for an appointment and they make one then and other times the details are of no interest and not what they were looking for.
It is definately worth doing from an estate agents/ vendors point of view as we get viewings in as a result which we might not have done otherwise.
I don't think it's unreasonable for an estate agent to do this. It is common practice in the area where I live. If one estate agent doesn't do it then another will and get the business.0
