How to set tv to HD??

The V+ boxes don't output Scart and HDMI at the same time like the Sky HD boxes do.
In the V+ menu, you need to select HD output, change your tv to HD then press a key on the remote to say you can see the picture.
I think at one point in the software the Scart 2 was also disabled in the V+ software. No use for VCRs and DVD recorders.
They thought that everyone would just use the inbuilt hard drive for recording.
Yes, it was disabled. But it would enable when you went to the option to copy the programme or programmes on your V+ to the DVD or VCR, whilst copying to DVD/VCR you could then carry on watching something else on the V+ - live TV etc.
The recent code-drop has re-enabled the VCR SCART at all times and not just when in copy to DVD/VCR mode. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Hi all,
This prob is a really dumb question but.......... We have a medion HD LCD TV bought from Woolworths a couple of years ago. This week we had a V+ box installed so now we are able to use the HD part of the tv. Have bought a HDMI cable and plugged it into the back of both the tv and the V+ box. We previously used a scart lead and still have this plugged in too. Do i need to keep this plugged in aswell as the HDMI cable? Question is now what do i need to do? The picture still looks the same? do i need to tune it in or something?
Sorry if this is a very basic thing i'm asking but hey i am blonde!!!;)

As you have found you had to go into the box TV settings to select HDMI.
Note 720 Wide and 1080 Wide just mean they will stretch 4:3 programmes out, the correct setting is either 720 or 1080 on a HDTV screen, however there are some people who prefer to incorrectly stretch the picture out of ratio.
When you ordered the V+ if you mentioned at the time you had a HDTV the engineer would have had an HDMI lead assigned to your job (put on the order). If you had called up VM or posted in their support newsgroup VM would have sent one of FOC. If you ask sometimes they will refund £5 to your account for the cost of an HDMI lead, VM won't give more than £5 as even £5 is generous for the cost of the HDMI as they cost less than that to buy in and even less when you bulk buy. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... The Virgin engineer that installed the box did supply me with a hdmi cable but unfortunately it was too short to reach the distance between our tv and set top box. Thats the reason i had to buy another 3m one. xxx
It was virgin who rang me and offered the installation of the box for 20 quid so i thought for that price i'd give it a go.0 -
