Best free variable - is this the best option for me...

Hi there,
Currently got 6k in a fixed Britannia cash ISA at 6.55% until October 2008. I good rate.
I want to open a new ISA next week and put in 3.6k.
However i don't know what to open. Should i get a fixed rate from a different society at around 6% and leave my money in tehre for full year?
I would like though one that is not fixed so in October I could get a renewed high itnerest one from Britannia and move my ISA for this year in to there.
That presumes a few things though. 1. that Brtiannia will offer me a decent rate again and 2 that they accept a transfer in.
Anyone know the best options?
I'll therefore be looking for either a decent fixed rate for 1 year or a decent variable rate for 1 year.
Thanks

B&B are doing a 1 year fixed at 6.25%. Otherwise Barclays do 6.5% variable, but that includes a 1% bonus for 12 months.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0
