I can only suggest that you ring head office - they were very helpful. Number I got from this website.

  • I bought a kitchen from Ikea Leeds in July. When we got the many hundreds of boxes home, we found that one of the doors they supplied for the corner wall unit was the standard height not the longer height as required.
I returned it and requested a replacement. They said it was out of stock but due in in three weeks. I went in three weeks later and was told it was still out of stock.
Apparently they wait until they have a few on order before putting the order through. I explained that they had given me the wrong size in the first place and that I'd already been waiting three weeks.
I also mentioned that they were showing it as being in stock at other branches so could they possibly transfer it to the Leeds store. They said that they don't transfer stock between stores.
They then said they would put the order through for the door again and that it should be in in three weeks!!!

    I am still waiting.

I have been really pleased with the quality of the kitchen but this one missing door is really starting to bug me.

We had the same excuse from the Brisol store when the mattress that was in stock at time of purchase 'some how' got sold to someone else before it should have been put on the wagon 2 days later.

We got the stock 3 weeks later- which I think is a record after they failed to deliver 3 times, but it certainly wasn't without bugging them non stop. My partner dealt with the Customer Service manager in the delivery service, he pointed out Ikea were in breach on contract by selling our goods and said if they did not collect from Cardiff (who did have stock) we'd hire a van, get it ourselves and send them the bill.

The trick is to keep banging on at them, get the name of the manager and deal with them direct on the phone and if possible in person. Letters don't get through as we've been told. If there really are loads of people with problems, you want to draw as much attention to your problem and this is one of those occasions by banging on the phone at them actually works.

prettypennies- I think they only transfer stock between stores if within the respective delivery catchment areas, e.g. Bristol and Cardiff. However, its not your concern how they move stock between stores. Give them an earful- your contract is with Ikea (the company), if they, the company don't supply threaten to collect it yourself (or have one couriered) and send them the bill.

Bristol lied to us saying Cardiff don't deliver here, but when we checked with Cardiff they said they did. Might be worth checking how far away the alternative stores are and if they deliver to your area.

Also on the Ikea website there is an online chat client that connects you to someone in customer services and we used that to get them to call us.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

  • Rang to check stock again. Its now goings to be midlle of October. Customer services are now saying that there is a 'manufacturing delay', but were as unhelpful as ever. I'm am thoroughly peed off with Ikea. I've spent over £3000 on this blinking kitchen and they are not prepared to have on £12.00 door transfered to keep me happy.

Hi prettypennies - did you get your door yet? I really cannot stress how much easier it was as soon as I rang through to head office - I found that there was no way I could get to speak to the manager of the Leeds Branch - no one would give me the number.

I just got £300 worth of vouchers back which is a small compensation for the best part of 3 months without work tops and a severe lack of info.

The woman I spoke to acknowledged that they have a serious problem and lots of people will not order anything unless it is in the store on that day.

  • Yes I am still waiting.

I went in to the store a few weeks ago to see if I could get any furher. Was told it is still not in stock but they would get one sent to me when it was. I was also told that someone would ring me on October 5th to update me on the stock situation. Suprise Suprise, no-one called.

  • Just rang customer unservice line to try and get head office number or address and was told write to IKEA leeds and they will pass my comments on. Point blank refused to give me a number or adress for head office.

To be fair to IKEA we had no problems with them when we bought a new kitchen in August.

They did not have the glass shelves in stock at the time and I was a bit worried about getting the run around when I was told they would be in next week and they would send them to us directly when they arrrived.

Well they phoned the day after they items were supposed to arrive and delivered on the agreed day.

Can't complain about that - especially as the kitchen still had another 3 weeks work ahead and the glass shelves were hardly holding things back.

The quality of the kitchen units were very good although the instructions took a bit of head scratching to figure out as they are all graphical. Thankfully they were also largely accurate.

Overall a decent experience - saved over £1000 on MFI and quality a lot better than B& Q or Homebase

  • Finally after 5 months, several letters and numerous phone calls, the missing kitchen door arrived today.

At least my kitchen will be finished in time for Christmas!!

I could actually explode right now because of that place - I bought a wardrobe that cost me £250 (not cheap to me!) and all was going well until I was finishing the assembly this evening. Ive put the doors on and im installing the internal doors, then the thing FALLS ON TOP OF ME!!!! Ive tried everything to keep it up, it would appear that the weight of the doors is too much for the frame!! If I have the doors open, I have a wardrobe on my head, and if they are closed, its still precarious!! My floor isnt wonky, there is nothing in its way, and ive connected every bit properly.

Ive emailed the customer services as I want a phone call tomorrow and if It isnt sorted pronto then they are going to have a whole world of misery coming their way. Its a hazard!! I dont want the thing in my house anymore, and returns are going to be a pain because I threw the packaging away!
