Connecting to the internet via broadband > MAAF

Options
I have a fairly basic knowledge of computers and need some advice (little words, no abbreviations please ;)),

I have always used AOL for my BB connection, until a few weeks ago when I changed to MAAF, and as such all i needed to do to connect to the internet was click on the little symbol :o (suited me just fine !!) now when i connect i use 'internet explorer browser' and EVERY time i open it it says "internet not connected" and gives the option for working off-line  It also randomly kicks me off and i get a server error message and have to re-start my pc before i can get back on again.

When ive gone onto my internet options and checked, the modem says connected and gives a count-up timer so I can see its been connected since my computer was switched on.

Is there a better way to connect to the internet ??

Should i have a little MAAF symbol which i click on to connect ?? (i had so many problems getting on-line im worried ive missed something )

I changed from aol as the software slowed my pc down and drove me barmy in the end but im really regretting the change now

thanks for any help !!
