Dell V Sony

The Dells I have to repair have proprietory PSUs and mobos.
The on-board NIC seem to be more succeptable than any other built in NIC.
Can't really comment about Sony in the workplace but then price is an issue in the workplace.
But there again I wouldn't buy a Dell for the home, having used them at work.0 -
I've never been impressed with Dell. They work and use a lot of "dell only" type stuff.
Sony use loads of "sony only" type stuff, but they just feel better made.
I have a Vaio at the moment and haven't regretted it once.
In Dell laptops all the ram, screens and hard disks are standard parts and readily available. Compatable PSUs are available, and the remainder of the parts - the motherboard, casing, etc can more often than not be purchased off ebay s/h.
Cheap Dell laptops will feel less well made to say, a sony at three times the price, but i've never had any bits drop off. I guess you pays your money....0 -
i had a sony laptop a good few years back and it had a problem with the power supply, it was sent back 3 times to be fixed in the inital year and they even lost if for approx 2 months as well, totally put me off buying from them in the future0

My Vaio VGN-C1S/W was £575 new.
I don't think you can get any new dell for £191.0 -
The reason you don't see Sony in the workplace is the price, the fact that most computers are replaced fairly regularly and also the waranty/support. It's nothing really to do with quality0
