i.e. if it is extracting 9kw from the air constantly, you may not need that much energy at the time so it is stored in a body of water - kind of like a battery to be used when u need it.

At present my oil boiler is 16kw, it does keep up Ok. Working out the current bungalow size together with the number of radiators (14 including 2 remote ones in a detached games room)) then the pellet boys recon I need 32kw.
9kw seems way to far short of this especailly as I in a very exposed situation with 5 to 10 mile visiabilty in all directions except North.

Ah, I see - I thought you were questioning the "stored in water" part.
Although, they could still be right I suppose. A large enough, well insulated body of water could possibly provide enough thermal storage to keep up with demeand.
I guess they would have to provide the calculations to back this.I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Placing my boiler order today, Kalorina Mini 25. It has the from what I can see unique factility for an additional oil burner that can be used if you are perhaps away on hols in the winter for a few weeks but the Mini 25 also has a holiday facility where it comes on for short periods to keep the house frost free.
Heating oil is now getting toward 70p per litre, the price of pellets from some sources has risen to about £200 a ton plus delivery but this still equates to an oil price of 50p per litre plus carriage at about £45 a ton. Most suppliers are at £170 ish plus carriage in small bags
Carriage costs are now high and will be going higher due to fuel costs therefore it is expected that a network of small local chip & pellet manufacturers will spring up over the next few years to service local areas. I am therefore now looking to set up a chip & pellet manufacturing plant to serve my local market as it develops.

They seem a very versatile machine, the only drawbacks I can see is that they are not self cleaning and the efficiency does not seem as high as some by a few percent.
