no no no!! it's not the thought that counts.. This 'has' to be perfect, i'm going all out to get my girl and it has to be right.

ASDA are doing steamers of £13 which is peanuts really.. Anybody used one and would it be a better option than trying to juggle a bucket full of pans and risk cocking something up?

an electric steamer or one that you put over a pan?

I use an 'over a pan' one so that I can do my spuds in the pan and my carrot and swede in the steamer. I find it easier that having seperate pans on and the veg doesn't lose it's flavour like it does with boiling.

I know you want it to be perfect but dont put so much pressure on yourself. If she's really the woman for you she'll love you for the thought and the effort.

The first time my dh cooked for me we were students and he came round to mine with all his ingredients. he pre-arranged with my best mates (who were also my housemates) to give me a girly pampering session upstairs (manicures etc) so I would be out of his way, and he supplied us with a bottle of plonk to keep us happy. then, when it was finally ready, I was allowed downstairs where i found the only table we had covered with a table cloth and nicely laid, and was presented with a plateful of nice tasting but very obscure food. When I asked what it was I was told "dead stuff what tastes"!!! I still have no clue what it actually was although I guess it was probably chicken (he put something on it though) and a warm salad.

I HATE warm lettuce, and his meal didnt really work very well, but i was so impressed with the little things and his thoughtfulness, and in the end I married him, so there you go.

So... good luck, dont worry. and whatever else you do, just remember to be yourself and to enjoy your day. You sound like a lovely bloke, and she's a fool if she doesnt see it.
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

It's true though, if it all goes horribly wrong she'll still really appreciate you trying your best .........we womenfolk are like that :D

The main thing is if it all goes well, make her a decent bacon butty the following morning. ;)
