Any suggestions for drying washing indoors

It didn't rain yesterday but the pavements didn't dry at all. I still hung out he washing though and when I took them in they were still damp. I hung them on the clothes horses overnight and this morning they were dry. I never used to hang out clothes between October and March thinking they wouldn't dry, but i've realised it does help if you get them outside as they do get aired and dry quicker once you take them back indoors.0

I bought this one first and it is 45dB.
This one is 48dB. It is used at night, but I have to pull the lounge door in and half close my bedroom door, although I can still hear it. The noise is similar to a fan heater, but louder.
I would advise anyone buying to take note of the dB rating. My next one has to be less than 45dB.0 -
We use a dehumidifier, usually put it on in the morning when DH goes into the bathroom for a shower, then leave it on a lower setting for the day - but turn it off overnight as it is a bit noisy - about fridge-level sound (but the fridge is not upstairs near the bedroom!!!)
I mostly hang the washing outside, even if it is a bit dull out, and then if its not dry hang small things on an airer on the landing, and larger items on coathangers in the airing cupboard. Our airing cupboard is big enough to walk in & houses the gas combi boiler so is a good place to dry stuff.
DH works for a double glazing company, & is a bit paranoid about condensation - in his job he has people complaining that they have condensation on their windows, which they apparently think is his fault, even when they have all their windows shut and washing on all the radiators...... not to mention that people breathing in a sealed room is going to produce warm, moist air!!!!! So I am not allowed to put washing on radiators* (am allowed to breath though lol!!!)

My kitchen is always toasty warm when get up in the morning when I've left it on overnight.
So a very good/cheap way of keeping the chill off and ensuring your room is never dangerously cold.
After doing my research on dehumidifiers I decided to invest in a Ebac 2650e as many people on here say they also give off heat, I dont know how yours is making the kitchen toasty as mine does not give off any heat at all, perhaps mine may be faulty. I have had it in a small bedroom running for 4 hours watching the humidity gauge go from 84% to 73% so it must be doing something but the temps the same, the room about 13 C and as I understand it I will be lucky to get it below 70% humidity at that temp.

We've got an Ebac 2650 as well, got it on their website as you then get a free 5 year warranty. The air it blows out is a bit warm. Our flat is very warm even with no heaters on, but I do find now that it is getting colder, it seems to be taking a bit longer to dry the laundry (in the bathroom with the dehumidifier, door closed, overnight) but then again I have it on the quieter Max mode (for laundry) instead of the fast fan Max mode. But I am quite happy with it so far. It costs around 13p to dry a load overnight but we are on expensive Economy 7.
The only thing I would say, is that you really do have to take their advice and hoover the air filters out each month! Ours stopped working around 3 weeks, but worked again once I gave it a good hoover. Must have a very dusty home I guess!Debts 2004: £6000..............................................Aug 2007: £0!!!!0 -
I'm just trying to be really organised with my washing now it's not as warm (we have no tumbledryer) We've got two clotheshorses, I usually stick them in the bedroom during the day with doors closed so I can open the window to air them (I like a cold bedroom so this is no problem for me) and remember to turn them every so often so all sides are getting the air. But it is best to have smaller loads so they can spread out more.
If I'm putting the heating on because it's freezing I make sure to have clothes on all the radiators, so it's killing two birds with one stone!February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
Well I shall have to eat my words here, the day I posted on the Ebac I had only had it a day. WOW what a great piece of kit totally transformed our house downstairs, getting a lot of water from it the air and house feels better, no condensation on the windows at all downstairs got the washing dry no problems and passed the ultimate test.
We have no central heating and we have a lounge, kitchen and large bathroom and toilet downstairs and three bedrooms upstairs, so you can imagine the moisture in the air downstairs, the heating in the bathroom is calor gas when we shower. The ultimate test is running the calor in the kitchen within seconds the double glazed windows mist over, tried that yesterday and nothing at all so pleased with dehumidifier.
Another great point is I try and get some heat in the kitchen with oil filled rad, my wife starts the cooking and opens all the windows to let the steam out and all the heat thats been generated via cooking, such a waste of heat created, told her the dehumid would take care of it, now all heat generated stays in the house win win!!0 -

Is it giving off heat?0 -
and how noisy is it?0
-
The heat it is giving off through the vent is very little but there is some there, the two rooms feel warmer. My house is solid brick construction lounge is 12ft x13ft with double glazed bay window, kitchen is 14ft x 11ft double glazed square bay bathroom is 10ft x5ft and because of building reqs in 50's toilet has to be 2 doors from kitchen so they tagged it onto the bathroom single brick like having an outside toilet.
I say all this because I have definitely noticed it doesn't feel as cold as it usually does. The outside temp is 8.9 inside lounge its 16 and kitchen is 15 there is not the chill factor there anymore.
As for noise that usually depends on the person, some say its noisy in reviews but i dont find it noisy at all on max you can hear it but when it drops to auto its quieter would I be able to sleep with it in a bedroom no, on the landing yes.
Would I buy another yes.0
