Any suggestions for drying washing indoors

It's not been unheard of for me to do this if I really need something in a hurry!
Ive done this too!Only on my fave jumper though if its not dry enough and I want to wear it lol.
I use a clothes horse all year, and use the radiators even when they arent on. Havent had the heating on since the weather got nice so a few months. I was given a tumble drier a month or so ago but havent been tempted to use it yet, its for emergencies only lol. I put clothes outside on the line as much as I can, though I have some out there at the minute which have been out for possibly 4 days now cos it keeps raining and I didnt get them in the first time because I didnt know it had started raining and by time I went out they were soaked! They will dry one day soon Im sure...
Takes a few days for stuff to dry indoors in the cold weather though, that gets rather annoying!Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
I dry on the line. But last winter discovered a good place to dry washing. My dd has a high metal bed, and I hang washing on hangers of the metal struts underneath. The airing cupboard is in her room so they dry quite quickly, and her bedroom is so messy she doesn't even notice. lol.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I've not done a complete winter without my tumble - I gave up using it in March :j
I try and wash every day, line dry obviously if weather is ok, but otherwise I hang thin and lights over rads, anything else gets hung onto these radiator airers, which I then hang over the doors in the house (heat rises). We also have windows open nearly all the time. Undies go onto them little peg hanger things and hung onto shower rail in bathroom. I have a clothes horse but try and avoid using it because things seem to take a lot longer to dry.
DD School blouses get hung on coathangers and put on the rails under her bunk bed....boiler is in their room so they dry really quickly.
I'm waiting to see how I'll manage over a full winter but I'm hoping that I won't have to use tumble at all (it's on it's last legs anyway)

I have clothes airers, and they are sat by the storage heaters that are on (two for whole house).....washing normally dries overnight/within a day. I try to hang on the line whenever possible too. We also have a small airing cupboard where the boiler is and that is great for bigger things/heavier things. I refuse to buy a tumble drier as they are such a waste of energy and bad for the environment. My other tip is check if something really is dirty before you wash it, as some things are not meant to be washed as often as people do nowadays eg jeans, woolen jumpers etc do fine with a good airing instead of being washed so often!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I put them on the line unless it's raining or snow
It at least gives them that outdoor airing and just get them a little bit drier before bringing them indoors to finish off. I'm afraid I always tumble my smalls in one tumble a week, but very rarely anything else. I also have a dehumidifier I sometimes pop on for an hour. Loving the dish of salt trick

I am away working all week, so have to do my wash on Saturday morning and have it ready by Sunday evening.
Usually I use the line, hanging carefully so that nothing will need to be ironed. Even if its raining lightly, its surprising that things get very nearly dry. Otherwise I use my laundry pulley which hangs at the top of the stairs (where all the heat of the house rises). Anything I put on there in the afternoon is dry by next morning.
I've never had a tumble dryer.0 -
Drying clothes, I put as much as I can out on the line.
If it is raining as I wash every day I have a clothes airer I put up in the conservarory. I also hang some of the bigger things from coat hangers, There is a high shelf in the small utility room I hang the coat hangers from.
In the darker/cold winter days I dry the washing in the hall to use the heat of the house. We have an inlet bit whare the stairs cupboard is that just takes the clothes airer but that also means visitors have to walk past it.
I also have a tumble dryer that I sometimes use.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

We have a tumbly that is used for towels & bedding (and my undies in the winter)...everything else goes onto airers in the spare room which gets the sun all afternoon & stays quite warm, but as there are only 2 of us, there isn't huge mountains of laundry!
OH's shirts & my tops get put onto hangers & hung on the corners, smalls go onto the lower bars, t-shirts further up & jeans / trousers on the top with their legs down the middle.
We don't have a line at all, as we only have a tiny "courtyard garden"0 -
Hello
We gave away our tumble dryer 15 years ago. Not read the whole thread so sorry if this has been said already. There are two of us in the house and i do my washing according to the weather forecast. I try to wash clothes when i know it wil be warm/ sunny/ dry. We have an awning at the back of the house so the clothes horse goes out there - protected from rain but in the breeze. Once nearly dry i usually finish off on the radiators or even in a hot kitchen when the oven is on.
We have patio doors at the back of the house so i put the clothes horse in front of the glass so that the sun dries the clothes. I wash little and often - only the ammount i can dry.
Probably wouldnt work for a big family but it works for us.
