Exactly. Its just my opinion. There's nothing wrong with a book showing people how to make life a bit easier whilst cooking but I personally don't think that mince out of a tin and using McCain Wedges is particularly helpful but each to their own.

I dont know how people can afford to live off takeaways every day, it would cost us a fortune. for 3 of us a chinese could cost up to £15, then pizza (the full works) would be £16-17. unless we just greedy hogs, actually we are on takeaway night (saturday.) xxJust to win anything would be great!!0

Well I would never cheat at cooking because fresh ingredients, and freshly cooked, make for the best possible diet. A good diet is essential to health so I shall never compromise on that.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

I think Delia is giving people "permission" to try to cook for themselves. Hopefully when they have experimented with her cheats they will get a bit of confidence to try better stuff.
Isn't frozen veg supposed to be more more nutritous than a lot of stuff which has been sat on shelves for a few weeks.
I agree about the mince though ~ unless its improved since the 70's when I last used it
(I came out of school then being able to translate a bit of Latin, but not a b..... clue how to cook) and it took a long while experimenting with cookery books and recipes to become a reasonable cook. 0 -
I own the book already - as a working mum I was interested in what healthy cheats it contains - I didnt know they did frozen mash;)

Back and on a mission:cool:0 -
What a funny thread - I am normally straight there to enter the cookbook comps, but I think I'll give this one a miss.
I can see why shes done it, and its a perfect moneysaving book if you live on takeaways and ready meals
Personally I'll stick with Jamie and Hugh - they stand for everything I believe about cooking and food, and they're much better looking than Delia
Tinned mince yeeuurgh, personally mine comes from my local farm shop, reared on local land and slaughtered locally, tastes great (like meat!!) and a little bit goes a long way for me taste-wise, so doesn't work out any more expensive than the pretty wavy minced stuff from supermarkets (although obviously more expensive than tinned mince:rolleyes: )
Don't set me off, or I'll deviate from competitions back to old-style to find a Delia thread on there;)
