Harrased by Dept Collectors

Options
I am being Harrased by a dept collecting agent who is theatening me with court procedings, CCJs and expensive court cost for an account going back over 4years and for 12.51p for a company called Bulldog Internet who as I say I did use over 4yrs ago but cancelled with them because of very bad service ,which they were renown for at this time. I involved Ofcom to help me with my complaints and in the end my contract was cancelled and my MAC was returned to me and my account closed which if I owed them money would not have happened untill my account was payed up they would not return my MAC and would surly have contacted me for an outstanding dept. I have not had contact with them until this letter and phone calls from this dept recovery agent. All my accounts and files were on line but since have changed my PC and do not have theses files etc now.
I am a 67yr old OAP and to be honest not very well, can anybody out there advice me what to do ??:money:

£12.51. Whilst the principal is there, surely it'd save you a lot of bother & possible frustration by just paying off the small amount?

Theres a good website you can read that explains your rights with debt collection agencies, might be an idea to take a look.

  • Thank you for your most useful replies. I have now contacted Bulldog and am waiting a reply. I also have to say that I consider just paying an amount I am sure I do not owe the same as pleading guilty to a crime when innocent. Being a OAP I have limited finances and 12.51 is a useful amount of money for me and finally I can still remember all the problems I had with this company in the first place and the amount of cash I spent on correspondence with them and the wasted monthly payments to them

What's happened to antilowells.co.uk then? The domain doesn't seem to exist any more.

My wife received a letter from Red Debt Collection Services (a.k.a. Lowells) yesterday to say that she allegedly owed T-Mobile nearly £200 - however the only dealings she had with T-Mobile was when they were called one2one and that was around 7 years ago - and she insists that she settled her account with one2one in full when she moved to BT Genie - which she knows was definitely over 6 years ago, as she was using BT Genie when she moved house in April 2002.

Not what you want when you are disabled and fighting a painful kidney infection!

Anyway I did a bit of research and deduced that even if there was any outstanding debt with T-Mobile, she hasn't been contacted by them apart from the communication from Lowells yesterday - which would make any debt statute barred (as she's had no dealings with one2one or T-Mobile for over 6 years) - and I have written to them today to say as much.

Absolutely. I am afraid that normanmark is today a little wet behind the ears. It is extraordinarily bad advice to pay up, they will only get used to the idea that they can go around bullying people for totally fraudulent debt claims, which will do nobody any favours. Personally, I would go for full frontal denial, and really make them work to prove their point - insisting that the provide proof to a standard which will stand up in court. Count each letter they send as about £12 of effort and see if you can get them to waste 10 times the debt.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
  • Let's all join forces to combat these people. I have filled in a complaints form for the credit standards agency and I suggest that everyone do the same. Let us get this company dissolved, it's practices are fraudulent.

Any legal people out there who know how to go about this?
