My OH is moving out tommorow and has asked me to sort out his phone line, broadband etc. I stupidly rang BT and they reconnected the line free on Tuesday. Now I think I was wrong and want to take the Talk Talk £16.39 all in deal ( line rental unlimited calls and broadband ) instead. I spoke to BT who say he cannot cancel for 6 months or will pay £70.00 fee. Is there a way of getting over this!! I though all contracts had a 7 or 14 day cancellation window. Can anyone help??

The BT contract will be for 12 months subject to a £70 cancellation fee.
In any case if you want to move to Talk Talk your need a BT Line to do so.0 -
That is not what Talk Talk told me.
With all fairness its not uncommon for Talk Talk to not be precisely clear on what requirements are there to take their service. Also why would Talk Talk know more about BT's contracts than BT themselves? Alarm bells should have been ringing!
One of them is to get the customer to get a BT line installed (customer absorbs the 12 month contract & cost of installation) then Talk Talk will then want your custom. Ie. Customer foots the bill for installation so Talk Talk don't have to.0 -

Have a read of this thread on the Talk Talk Official Forum then where Talk Talk Support says A customer calling sales to signup to TalkTalk will still be required to have an active BT line!!

He had the line connected on 1.4.8 and it only cost him a £50.00 refundable deposit as the line was already there. Now I am wondering if we should look for a different deal as his lease is for 6 months originally and he may move back home. Are there any good companies with Broadband that you dont have to have a long contract with??0
