Hi
i have a glass bedside carafe with a glass on the top.
this has a narrow neck which prevents me from pushing anything inside to assist with cleaning, but over the years, a film has built up and i cant seem to remove it.
i have tried soaking in bleach with no success.
any advice would be much appreciated.

If you put some rice and some warm soapy water in the carafe, and swish it round/shake it, that *should* get much of the muck off the inside. Failing that you can buy 'magic balls' (I think Lakeland has them) which are like little copper balls that do much the same thing. They're not cheap though, so I'd have a go with the rice first0

can you put some uncooked rice down the neck with the bleach water and swish it around this will help clean it if you can
pamI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

i heard somewhere of a tip to clean them by putting a denture cleaning tablet in them and letting that fizz and soak the stains off. I've never tried it so couldnt tell you if it works but it sounds plausableSPC~12 ot 124

It's probably limescale - so maybe filling it with vinegar and leaving it overnight might help.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

I'd second the denture tablet overnight. Remember to rinse out thoroughly.
If you want to dry it, let drip dry upside down on a cloth to get most of the moisture, then gently blow dry with a hairdryer ( no streaks). Also works for vases.0 -
Does no one have bottle brushes anymore??? Ideal for cleaning carafes or I use it for cleaning the spout of my teapot and more often hubby's flask.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

If you do go with the rice method remember not to tip the contents down the sink or you'll have a blocked sink to deal with!0

Lead shot is traditional, get your cook or kitchen maid to pick them out of the pheasants, add handful to the carafe, a touch of water and slosh around for 2 mins.0
