the speed is usually dependent upon your phone line, its quite likely pipex aren't responsible for your low speeds, unless you had a previous bband supplier giving much higher speeds on the same line.
the extra usage charges seem a bit excessive, i'd guess (perhaps wrongly) that the extra 3 gb is you using around 13gb/month, suggesting that a 10gb cap is not ideal for you, i can't look at pipex pricing as the site now redirects to tiscali offering its *cough* unlimited packages for peanuts
Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.
  • try posting on www.thinkbroadband.com in the Pipex forum. They might be able to help you with getting out of the contract. If you break the contract then I think you only pay a cancellation fee which is probably about £58.

As has been said , it all depends on how far you are from the phone exchange..
the guy i spoke to at the time of joining said of course ul get 8meg...

he would i have said (like all providers) up to 8mb.

but every month they bill me for a extra 3 gig they say they have sold me the price seems to be differnt all the time..

The difference in amounts appear to be apart of point 3 you made. If you missed a direct debit , they have added the previous amount owed and put it on to the following months bill (hence why its more)

the amount was payd from the direct debit 5 days after it failed, thats why cant understand the price jump

i also did look at the www.thinkbroadband.com in the Pipex forum but cant make head or tail of it

    thanks
  • I was with Pipex for about 5 years, leaving only last week.

Have a look at the amount that they advise you they'll be taking from your account. (I used to get an email) and compare that to the bank statement.
While you are there, also check the dates of payment that they advise.

If there are discrepencies, you should get a full and immediate refund from your bank
    This info is from http://www.bba.org.uk/bba/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=828&a=10383&artpage=all
If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, the organisation collecting the payment will notify you normally 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed
If an error is made by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid

    I hope that helps

If you stop the direct debit you will end up with somebody who knows what they are doing.

    Hi,
I'm in a similar position to you, but I only started with them in February! I am on the mini package £9.99 a month and they are taking extra each month for "downloads". Ironically I read all the reviews which stated they were a good provider to be with, not!! I am trying to get out of the contract but as nothing has been signed I am hoping (now Tiscali has taken them over) to use that as my reason. Like you I have been pushed around from customer services to technical support, and back again, with no clear direction as to what to do. I feel that if you stop your direct debit, which is what I am contemplating doing, that could be the way forward. Incidentally, my speed is 512 KB, and yet I'm paying for an 8 Mb supply!! Good luck with whatever you decide.
