Delayed charges for calls/texts to Oz?

I was dreading DD's 3 bill this month (I pay her bill as she's a penniless student!) as she called her boyfriend in Australia several times and sent about 50 texts to him, as well. He called her daily and has received an enormous bill (on O2) which he expected!

She was prepared to pay anything over her normal tariff, but the bill arrived yesterday with no extra charges. Her calls and texts were listed as "included" in her allowances. But I have an inkling that there may be extra costs involved that will take a while to filter through to 3's billing system.

Does anyone know whether my suspicions are correct - or can I just breathe a sigh of relief? And I do realise DD could have paid £15 for a month's international calls in advance - hindsight is a wonderful thing!

If she called an international number, then the charges are to follow.

But if she called/texted her boyfriend on his UK o2 number, (which is what it sounds like from your post), then the calls/texts will be charged as if he were in the same room as her! (Callers don't have to pay extra when calling a UK mobile number if it happens to be roaming in Australia or anywhere else.)

Indeed - the extra charges would have been picked up by her boyfriend, who would have paid money to receive the call.
