Anyone know a good deal for a router?

Being moneysaving expert, take a look at http://www.dsldepot.co.uk this is a sister site of dslwarehouse only the goods are refurbs and ususally EXTREMEMLY CHEAP.

Also as someone else said, make sure u get the right type CABLE modems and ADSL modems are not the same thing!

I currently have a BT Voyager 220V ADSL voice router so can I just buy a wireless router and change it over?

Actually, since you've already got an ADSL router all you really need is a wireless access point to plug into it.

I am sorry I am really thick about these things. So I buy a wireless access point, plug the original router into that (or plug that into the original router) and hey presto, can use a wireless laptop anywhere in the house?

You'll need to configure both the access point and the laptop so that they can 'see' each other, but basically you are correct.

Essentially, a wireless DSL router is an all-in-one package; DSL modem, router, Ethernet switch and wireless access point combined. You could theoretically buy each of these components separately if you really wanted to.

Buy an adsl wireless router, and ditch the existing one. BT don't know, and don't care whether you are wireless or not, it has nothing to do with your contract.
