The charge is quite substantial on a large transfer-they haven't inserted the clause ' Charge on SOME BT's ' for no reason.
The charge is now capped at £50 (it was £35). Whilst £50 may be significant for some people, if you are moving genuine debt around it may be a small price to pay. And don't forget it could be worse - some providers don't cap their charges!

My understanding (gained from Virgin/MBNA, this forum, and the stoozing website) is that the "some BT's" statement was there for 2 reasons...

    1. They could apply it at any time if they so decided.
    2. They could apply it after the 9 month intro period without having to re-write/modify the T&C's.

Like Clariman says, it's not to penalise/catch/identify stoozers - I don't believe their systems are that smart (he says hopefully!).

I was asking this one myself last week and twopoints said nobody on here had been charged for BT's. Im guessing here but i think the 2% is aimed at known or suspected stoozers. Or maybe those who had an MBNA card (the parent company) in the past, used it to advantage, closed it then applied for one of there other cards sometime later. The charge is quite substantial on a large transfer-they haven't inserted the clause ' Charge on SOME BT's ' for no reason.
I thought the charge was capped at £35 if it is even applied - I've BT'd > £5k with no charge BTW

    Hi
Hubby applied for Virgin 0% card last week, just signed agreement and sent off. Applied during application process for £6,000 balance transfer to EGG card (where the balance is being stoozed) and not paying a fee to balance transfer. That means 6k can stay earning interest for another 9 months :j Egg card 0% offer runs out 1st October, so the Virgin card should send the money there in plenty of time :D
