mini shares isa this year

Hi,

I have put 3k into an alliance L minicash isa and i want to put the 4k of this year into a mini shares isa where i can trade online. i know my friends trade with lloyds but it sounds like they might take a couple of days to set up the account. do you think i should put the 4k into a mini shares isa with Aand L and then transfer it over next financial year?
does anyone recommend one?

When you say Lloyds, do you mean their stockbroker account or their branch based stocks and shares MINI ISA with Scot Widows?

Do you intend to buy unit trusts/oeics/sicavs or shares/investment trusts?
