Have an application in for Selftrade ISA. Unfortunately they are in the process of messing it up and delaying it a lot.

So it's unclear whether it will be set up by 5th April.

If they don't stop being so incompetent, would there be any problem paying in £7k by debit card on 5th April to my existing Hargreaves Lansdown ISA instead? I want to make sure it counts for 2007/08

HL are opening ISAs up to midnight on 5 April but being a cautious soul think I'd phone them to check the position with uncleared funds then make sure Selftrade understand you've cancelled. I funded an HL ISA using a debit card last week and got an email confirmation within an hour and by post the next day.

Last year I funded a S&S Mini ISA with Hargreaves Lansdown on 5/4/07. Have done it earlier this year, i.e. today!

They said to me today what earlgrey says above, namely that they'll be taking applications for 07/08 up to and including 5/4/08, so you should be fine but I'd probably call to check if I were you.

They are pretty competent in my experience.
