Opening 08/09 ISA

Has anyone applied for their 08/09 ISA (even if funds not transferred in yet)?

Or do we have to wait till Sunday the 6th (online) or Monday the 7th (in branch)?

:D

I have applied for Barclays ISA 08/09, on Monday. The nice lady said she would sent the forms off that day and that within 2 weeks after 6th, my cheque would be put through :)

Daft question time. I have an ISA that I am currently paying into monthly. Am I able to open a new ISA for 2008/09 and start to pay into that one monthly as well or am I constrained by the yearly limits, this years being £3000 for shares?

You cannot pay into both - you will have to choose one or the other unless one is a Cash ISA and the other is to be a S&S ISA.

If you make a payment after April 6th to your current ISA then that is you subscribed to that ISA. Is it a cash ISA or S&S ISA?

As to limits you have an allowance each year. Next year it will be £7200, up to £3600 of which can be cash. This year it is £3000 cash and £4000 stocks and shares.

Can anyone confirm when the deadline for Barclays ISAs is (07/08)?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was the 31st of March - but now I'm thinking that's not correct?

If anyone knows for sure - please let me know!

Its all here and there. Some people have said theyve gone into their local Barlcays and they've said no longer taking applications, some other people have said you have to make appointment to do so, some people have said its all fine and dandy until Sat.

If you don't want to take the risk, go elsewhere, and quick..... ;)
