Holland and Barret do jars of it (though I found it cheaper in my health food shop, but only by pence). Makes a yummy horlix-type drink with hot milk, too, if you can spare some after the malt loaf!!0

I got some in my local health food shop but then I saw it in Superdrug later on. It's yummy!0

You can buy it in large quantities from brewing shops.

Try asking your local chemist - if they do not have it in the shop then they can get it for you the next day."This site is addictive!"

The cheaper home brew (beer) kits have a ginormous can of malt extract in them, just make sure it isn't one that has been pre-hopped. Otherwise you will pucker-up a lot

any chance of posting the Breadmaker malt loaf receipe please?0

It's only from the recipe book that came with my breadmaker (trying to work my way through them).
Anyway here goes;-
To make a 1lb loaf;-
WATER; 3/4 cup
SALT; 3/4 tsp
SUNFLOWER OIL; 1 tbsp
BLACK TREACLE; 1 tbsp
MALT EXTRACT; 1.5 tbsp :rotfl:
PLAIN FLOUR; 2 cups
FAST ACTION YEAST; 3/4 tsp
SULTANAS; 3/4 cup
(Then it reads use setting 8 specialty) - Are all breadmakers setting different? dunno, you may have to check what no. your *speciality* is on.
Can also give you the measurements for 1 1/2 lb loaf. If needed just ask.
Hope this helps,

thanks! could i ask for the quantities for the 1 1/2lb loaf please?
which Breadmaker have you got? (out of interest)
where did you manage to get your malt extract from?
For the speciality setting.... is it basically a raisen bake function? I mean is it a normal length bake cycle but it is a speciality setting because you need to use the fruit/nut dispenser to put the sultanas in at the right time ?
thanks again! I LOVE malt loaf0
