quick question please? just looking at the betfair site, i have only the blue boxes up.....what are the numbers in white next to them on the left? thanks

    Oh heck!

Erm.......... I just know to click on the back blue buttons. NOT THE PINK!

Sorry, someone else may be able to help. I understand gambling and odds but betfair just gives me a headache, OH tried explaining it to me earlier and it just went over my head

I think it may be previous odds gone up/down
think I'm gonna run off to quidco and give it a go anyway
  • Hi, I hope someone could tell me what is going on. I registered with betfair using martins BS code. I then placed £25 on a horse but my account hasn't been creditied with another £25. I feel as though i have just put £25 on a horse and that will be it. There isn't any indication that betfair will depoist 25 into my account as usually on other betting sites they let you know if you are using a promotion code.

Can any one tell me if this is normal? or do i have a right to be concerned?

gambling addicts must be laughin at me coz i found it really hard to place a bet.

i went through quidco, and put the promotional code. hope i get my £25 back.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
  • I've never bet on anything before, and technically I still haven't since I get the money back! But I've spread (hedged?) my bets over the [STRIKE]10[/STRIKE] 12 favourite horses. If any of them come in, I get £18-50! Excited to watch the race now, though I'll have to do so next to my computer screen, since I won't remember all the names. If the Quidco thing pays off too, seems a ridiculous amount of free money being thrown around, way too good to be true. Weeee'll see.

Josh, read the thread, man, you don't get the money back for 24hours, or 24 hours after the race or something (not much difference by this point in time!). Good luck with your bet!
  • Btw, I don't really understand how the lay (pink) betting works other than it's betting AGAINST a horse... but I imagine there are loads of people on here and up and down the country who've blindly chosen the 'safest' bet, so seems logically there would be a lot more money floating around than the horse probably warrants. Perhaps betting against it would entitle you to mopping up some of that extra cash?

I mean, if there are 49 horses or something, being favourite probably doesn't mean that much, but 'lay' people placing free bets are likely to go for a popular choice. Taking their bets might be the smarter move (provided the horse doesn't win!). Hmm, speculating on the probabilities of people trying to judge probabilities... now my head is spinning :rotfl:

FWIW, if you want to splash your free cash on one horse in particular, I had a look around and Channel 4 are tipping the second to favourite, Comply or Die. Perhaps some hardcore gamblers could let us know what they've picked..

I'm disgusted with Betfair pulling the £50 offer from the cashback sites.

I was up till well after midnight digesting this thread to make sure I would do it right. Imagine the language when I realised I'd just missed out. Never look a gift horse eh?

By the way, CashbackKings tonight also had to break the promise of £50 this weekend thanks to BF:

Don't Betfair know how damaging breaking their word is? As if they need to set a (secret) budget limit! More punters = more profit.

    They've lost mine.

(Though I might be tempted the next time they do it.:D Which is often.)

both me and my mum opened accounts with betfair through quidco yesterday and this morning i checked our betfair accounts and we both had £25 sitting there waiting to be taken back. also both got £50 tracking on quidco. so just hope 1 of us wins something for an extra bonus lol.
thanks martin for the heads up on this as normally i only spend £2 so this way i'm not only in pocket for the £50 quidco and any winnings but i have an extra £2 in the kitty too lol
