£1 Call Credit check

I just got an email to say you can get your call credit report which includes their version of your 'credit score' for £1.
just enter ref CREDIT-CRUNCH in the 2nd stage of sign up.
when you put in your credit/debit card details it says £12 will be taken, but I decised to chance it, and it goes to another page before you confirm the payment, which says £1 to be taken.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

On top of having paid £12, I can't access my file (despite waiting for the PIN to arrive) due to an error! And can I get hold of callcredit, No! Only give you an email address for contact ... no phone number.

I wish I had seen this before I coughed up my £12... I've not had the access to my credit report 'today' as it says on their site, and I've sent them two messages on the site (from my account) and an e-mail. I'll make a note of that e-mail address too and try that next if I get no reply, then I'll write to them and call them (although I hate speaking to these companies on the phone because they deliberately bamboozle you and then you have no record of it either) and see how I get on.

Is there any regulatory body for this kind of site that I could contact if I don't get my credit report or my money back?

i know this is an old thread, but have recieved the same treatment for callcredit as mentioned above, i managed to get a number for them thanks to there press department and there number is 0113 2441555 not that ringing them did me any good as got fobbed off by the operator but it may be some use to some people.

I had the same problem with this company. I paid £12 for my credit report which was taken promptly by CallCredit, I was promised a PIN by post to verify my identity/subscription but never received it. After one e-mail off complaint I heard nothing so I then sent another e-mail (with a hardcopy posted to their office in Leeds) demanding my money back within 10 working days and threatening to report them to Trading Standards (although I don’t know if they would be able to do anything). Two days later I had a reply via e-mail saying the money had been refunded.

    Result :j

From my experience I would advise everyone to stay clear of this company, although I would like to know if anyone has successfully managed to check their credit report with them.

The main credit reference agencies are Experian and Equifax.

Callcredit are a distant third and I wouldn't bother.
  • This company is holding incorrect information regardng credit reports, its shows that I have a CCJ against me which has had a detrimental effect on a mortgage application - I have also joined both experian and equifax and neither of these reports show a CCJ, they are also showing that this is active as well - this has meant that I have been refused a mortgage on this basis - I will be attempting to contact this company today, I have also sent an e-mail regarding this - I have obtained a telephone number from this forum and will be ringing them as well - will update later
  • i was also charged £12 and could,nt get back into the site ,i would be pleased if you could let me have there tel number
