hi,
I am looking for a mobile phone that has good pda functions such as diary entries, to do list, reminders, etc. I currently have a Sony Ericsson K800i which is limited in this role.
I just would prefer an electronic diary on a phone rather than having to carry around both my phone and paper based diary.
Any recommendations gratefully received.

Any Windows Mobile based smartphone would do the trick - Orange are selling refurbished SPV M700s for £150 at the moment.0

Do what I do, keep your current phone and get a cheap PDA to do the organising, still have to carry 2 things around but you wont suffer from bad battry life that alot of smart phones have and save some money.
I got a Palm Zire 21 for £14 off ebay brand new, it is simple but very effective. I have had a Zire 31 in the past which has a few more features. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

Sorry OP thread hijack coming.......
Dime Bar - you have me very interested in what you posted... one question can you get excel or a compatible spreadsheet program on that or any other Palm One Zire's???0 -
Yes!!!
I am sure there are plenty of free alternatives out there but after a quick look on the Palm site this here would do what you want and is compatible with all Zires.
However looking at the requirements I think you would have very little room left for files on the original Zire, however all the numbered ones would be ok.The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

Just had a quick look on ebay for you and these guys seem to have a lot of Zire 31's for sale. If you are going to do alot of spreadsheet work I would recomment a 31 or 71 as these have SD slots so you can expand the memory. I added sat nav to my 31 for about £30 and its even easier with the 71 as it has bluetooth.
The original Zire and the 21 are both monocrome which I like as the battery charge lasts for weeks. Both of those and the 22 with the colour screen have no expansion slots.
All of them run shed loads of freeware that can be found on google plus most of the payed for programs on Palms site.
Let me know if you need any more info. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

Getting back to the OPs request - Nokia 6120 is recommended as a 3G phone, doesn't shout "mug me", and has the S60 platform. Fully featured calendar, email, etc. plus thousands of 3rd party applications can be installed inc. TomTom, WindowsLive, Opera. You can use a bluetooth keyboard with it too.
You can sync it with Outlook using the supplied software. Or with Google (calendar for free using GooSync, tasks as well for a subscription). Full POP3 email access is built-in, along with a pretty decent browser.
Only thing is the internal memory's a bit small - so you can't run much at once. But for *storage* (and app installs) it has a microSD slot which takes upto 2Gb (maybe more, not sure).
If you want WiFi too, the more expensive E51 is a great phone - just lacks a flash for the camera. I've got mine installed with Fring to make free VOIP calls using JustVOIP and Skype. The thanks button is here to the right.
