I do agree with you.
We're in Whaley Bridge, by the way, so not really into second home/holiday home territory, thankfully.
We are looking to buy around the Disley, Whaley Bridge, Chapel areas, but it seems daft to rush in to buy, so I guess we'll just bide our time for the moment.
The rental market in this town is dominated by 2 and 3 bed terraces, as well as a few newer semis. I think average rents are £500 - £600 pcm round here.
Just had a quick look on rightmove and there are only 2 properties that are more than £600 per month - a 4 bed barn conversion that's been on the rental market since at least last summer and a new-build town house that isn't even finished yet.0 -
£1100 pcm on an estate in Chapel  I agree with you, no surprise it didn't rent...... They then put it up for rent at £1100pcm and strangely didn't get any interest in that, either......A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

We rent a 2 bedroom house that sounds very similar in size to the OP's house. However, we're in a "very desirable" small town in East Northants (as you can tell by my location!). We pay £550pcm for what my mum describes as a "rabbit hutch". I prefer the words "shoe box".

Anyway, similar houses were selling last year for £155k - £160k. Some nutter on our street has, earlier this year, put their shoe box on the market for £175k. Of course, this is well out of the reach of any "normal" person. 3 bed, similar design houses were on the market at the end of last year at £175k and the one that was recently on for £185k has been taken off the market........Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0 -

Sorry, could you clarify the situation here. Are you saying that after one house went on for £175K, that a whole lot of others went on the market for that asking price or more, and none sold?0 -

That would sound about right to me. After doing a check on rightmove the other day, the estate where the cul-de-sac I live in has a flurry of houses for sale.. all shoe boxes and NONE less than £150k. Ridiculous.0 -

In a word, yes.
Sorry for not being more clear earlier.

Hey Izzy,
Where abouts in Glos are you (i'm not some crazy stalker btw
)? I'm in Newent, which according to local EA's is 'Not only one of the most sought after areas in the Forest, but one of the most sought after areas in Gloucestershire'. Not really sure why though.
I'm seeing similar to what you are. Sellers aren't selling and buyers aren't their. Haven't seen any sellers giving up yet. But their not dropping prices either.0 -
What sort of part of Gloucestershire is this sought after area?
I live in Stonehouse, near Stroud. There are 3 properties for sale in my road.
1 bed flat, they sell for about £90K-95K based on last 2 years, on at £95K I think.
2 bed terraced house (early 90s). Small, good condition, nice location. On at £160K. For sale sign has gone after 2 months, don't know if it has sold.
3 bed end of terrace (early 90s). Similar to above, slightly larger. On at £190K. No chance in my opinion.Happy chappy0 -

Hi there
Churchdown.. I think its because its right slap bang between Gloucester and Cheltenham, and of course right near to Staverton airport.
I look on rightmove often and get quite demoralised at the prices in our area. I look at Abbeymead and the surrounding areas and compare to Churchdown and Churchdown certainly has the edge on higher prices.
Stonehouse sounds similarly priced to Churchdown, as does Newent.0
