Do you know why I couldn't open an Excel attachment sent to me though?
No, I can't explain that, will it still not open for you with the OpenOffice spreadsheet?

    I don't have it anymore.

Shall I uninstall MS Office? It doesn't work for me so I assume it is using up memory?

For most jobs the Open Office programs are good enough.
So if MS Office is definitely not working then you might as well uninstall it.
It's only using up space on your hard drive though, nothing serious, so it's up to you whether you keep it or not. It doesn't matter either way.

    Thanks for that.

Why do people fork out for MS Office then when OO is free?

    Hi
Well, maybe they haven't heard of Open Office.
Or maybe they've got more money than sense.:D

But seriously, there are probably some extra features in MS Office that Open Office hasn't got.

I only use the word processor and spreadsheet for general purpose work, not professionally, so it's good enough for me.

If you still have office partially installed, run this, retrieve the office key

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

then all you need is an office xx disk (borrow one?) to reinstall office, without the key (or if you uninstall it), yer stuffed.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • you could just download the software.. hehehe
