I have been using my credit card for about 18 months with no problems but..... i joined an online bingo site and thought nothing of topping up my account with a quick tenner via my card every so often. Well got my bill today and every time i have used it i have been charged a fee of £3?? This is for a cash advance call me thick but i thought a cash advance was for something like going to cash machine and drawing money on your card?? Can somebody please give me some advice??? I am lost??? Thanks in advance...

Many credit card firms consider payment to gambling sites to be "cash" . Learn from this - do not use ccs for gambling or better still do not gamble.

The best advice is to familiarise yourself with the T&C's. For example, here's what Capital One say about cash withdrawals...piggin_nutter wrote: »Can somebody please give me some advice???'cash withdrawal' means a withdrawal of cash made by you or any cardholder and also means any transaction made where you or any cardholder : obtain foreign currency, travellers' cheques and/or money orders; make an electronic money transfer (excluding balance transfers); make a payment to open a deposit account; carry out a transaction where payment is made to an establishment that is identifiable as carrying on gambling and the purpose of the transaction is payment for gambling activity;0 -
Unfortunately it is treated as cash by gambling sites I'm afraid.
Best using debit card if at all possible."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

If you look at sites like Quidco and CashbackKings you'll be able to open an account with A&L and get £ 50. If you fund the account then you'll be able to use their debit card to pay for gambling transactions without incurring the cash withdrawal fee."A child of five could understand this. Please be aware that even if you stay somewhere that has a gambling licence, like a small pub with gambling machines, if you pay for your room and meal by credit card, you still get charged the Cash Advance Fee and interest. I have just found this out the hard way.0

You have missed out the word may get charged a cash advance fee. This is certainly not the case in all hotels/ pubs with gambling machines.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I would go further in saying that I have never been charged for staying in any hotel that has gambling licences including those in Vegas!0
