Selftrade - Customer service experience

Hi,

I have been considering a selftrade selfselect ISA for 2008-9.

I have called a number of times, sat in phone queues, used their call back service, all to no avail.

I cannot get to talk to anyone in their customer service.

Is this normal, is it what I should expect? If so I am not sure I want to deal with them.

I have a few questions about their service so I might as well ask them here too.

1) Do they provide a Bed&ISA service?
2) What do they charge for dividend reinvestment within an ISA?
3) What charges do they apply if you close and ISA that you hold with them?

Advice is greatly appreciated

Matt

Don't know about the ISA questions, but for the customer service I have found them awful.

Customer service don't seem to have a clue when called. They take a week to reply to messages sent through the website :(
  • There are a number of things I like about the selftrade offer, no annual charge, no inactivity fee, lower costs for dealing and transferring out.

So lets have a poll of other SS ISA providers and the reasons they are good.

    Anyone?

    Thanks Matt
  • They're idiots, I signed up for an ISA account and it didn't let me do anything online (kept getting a message that there was an internal error when I logged in), they never called me back to give me a status update or tell me what the problem was, and after the third time chasing them I suggested just deleting the account and letting me sign up for a new one (which I was unable to do myself as the registration programme was detecting that I already had an account with them). They declined, and told me it was probably best to just go with someone else! This cost me an attractive entry point on the securities I was going to purchase, which really annoyed me, I sent them a message last week to let them know of my experience but they didn't reply, guess they don't care/don't want to know.

I have since signed up with iii.co.uk (Halifax I believe) which was a breeze, has lower costs and better customer service.
