Iv just looked them up on compnaies house and they are showing up as being in liquidation. A friend of mine told me that its been like this on companies house for the last 2 months.

Id be warry of buying from them & would highly recommend against it. I have a contract from O2 carphonewarehouse and i was tolking to their CS and was told that all new contracts form O2 since Sept 2007 were with O2 direct and not O2 CWH.

I have the feeling that they will go bust soon as their T&C's are distencing the companies from CWH.

I know carphonewarehouse is not in liquidation, however, e2save and onestopphoneshop are seperate registered entities in companies house, therefore, carphonewarehouse has no liability to these companies. Thus they can go into liquidation without CWH being affected. Look at Companies House if you don't believe me.

Why are they showing up being in liquidation then?????

Because they were companies once, but have now been liquidated. They were bought up by carphonewarehouse, who only use their name as a trading name.

    This is old news!
  • Yep its part of the CPW which is a PLC company.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Yes that is what i thought also. However, why is it then that they carephonewarehouse say they are not responsible for the cashback deals offered by their companies??

"The Carphone Warehouse Limited assumes no responsibility and is not liable for any other products or services promoted or sold through this website or any content of this website"

They say they are only responsible for just the contracts and the phones provided, but NOT the deals that come with them. How is this possible if they are not a seperate legal entity????

If they the same company, then does this not make them 'liable for any other products or services' such as the cashback:confused:??

You now seem to be changing your original thinking.

Why not edit your post now, or better still get the thread deleted.

As previously posted it is just scaremongering and will unneccessarily worry people.

There are enough concerns about getting cashback without adding your misleading advice to our worries.

They're trying it on - obviously they are liable, all the agreements are with The Carphone Warehouse Limited.

The thing about all this is the theory that Carphone Warehouse is financially invulnerable. This is simply not the case, any company can go bust, check out Northern Rock!! Reasons for concern would be an increasing reluctance to pay cash back this, certainly this appears to be the case with OSPS / e2save, a part of CW as mentioned on the thread.

They can be hit in 3 ways:-

    1. Reduced revenue, people feeling the pinch at the moment. Not much they can do about this.

    2. Increased successful cashback claims. They can lie and cheat to try and prevent this.

    3. In the 'credit crunch' it might be that their bankers withdraw credit facility and/or increase rates/charges. They will struggle to do anything about this in the current financial climate as did Northern Rock. Are they a cash rich company or are they living with huge debt? Check it out.

Before people suggest that this is scare mongering I will say that it is very unlikely they will go bust as they are a big player. I am however suggesting that the present financial circumstances make it just a little more likely.

Part of the Furniture 100 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
The bigger they are the harder they fall.

Rumbelows, Rover, Northern Rock, Courts etc.

But I don't thing CPW are vulnerable but all it needs is for the Networks to pull away such as Vodafone did due to CPW expense and the quality or lack of it Brings in and CPW are no longer.

I agree with Quentin. Worry about the things that you should worry about and not the red herrings! They are a ftse 100 company and if you start being overly concerned with the maybes on their going bust you shouldn't be considering cashback deals with anyone in the first place. The original post is old hat and has been covered the best part of a year ago. As I have also pointed out many times over a long period Onestopphoneshop IS now E2save - they are not seperate in any sense.
