scam calls
I had read on here somewhere about scam phone calls where someone phones and tells you they are from your provider and can do you a better deal. I'd never had one but now I am getting one a day!
It's always the same people and they tell me they are phoning from 3 about my PAYG phone. The first time I didn't cotton on straight away and told them I wasn't with three nor was I on PAYG and they asked who I was with as they might have misread their details, the last couple of days though I've immediately asked them who they are actually phoning from and they bluster and hmm a lot and then hang up. It really makes me cross, I didn't think these cold calls where they lie about who they are were allowed, is there any point in talking to my provider about them or do I just wait until the company gets bored and stops phoning me?

I can only talk for TM's stuff here - anyone else I don't know, but imagine them to be similar.
TM won't give you details of incoming calls, and aren't able to stop a particular number from calling you. Can't stop anonymous/witheld numbers from calling you either. In short, you're stuffed and have to put up with it for a while :-\
On the other hand, you threaten them with legal action if they continue to harrass you, they may stop. The police DO have access to your incoming calls, and as such it's perfectly possible to trace who is calling you. So next time they call, might be worthwhile telling them that if they carry on calling you will persue a prosecution for harrassment and see if that has any effect.0 -
Hi,
I always tell unsolicited callers that for various reasons all calls to this number are recorded. They usually 'make their excuses and leave'.

I used to get calls like this on my work mobile. I told them straight away that it is a work phone and I don't pay the bill or know anything about it. Never heard from them again.NCFC Member #00012 :cool:0

I had one a few weeks ago-seemed straightforward enough. The only thing I thought was weird was that it was called from a mobile. I'm unsure what they expect to get out of it though?0

I had one from "customer services" who asked me how long i've had my phone, so I asked them "You're customer services, you tell me!".
Funnily enough, they hung up....0 -
Just ask them to hang on a minute and put the phone down somewhere until they give up, having wasted their time and real money calling you.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

i had one the other day, asking me about my Orange contract, and i replied, I'm on PAYG, they said ok, and hung up!!0
