Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0

I think its a bit naughty putting this under 'warnings and rip offs'. As explained above by Morty_007, this is not a rip off, and whilst i cant speak for the Avis offer, i have seen in small print for other deals that the vouchers cant be used with any other offers.
By all means warn people but rip off, no way.0 -
Only way around this is to return a full price item for a credit voucher which you can use in the sales.0

just to clear things.........
this issue is that AVIS HAVE A DIFFERENT PRICING STRUCTure for tesco cc deals and for non tesco cc purchases.
for example.... call avis on 01344426644
get a quote as a "non tesco cc"
and then call back for a quote as a tesco cc member
results- quote is higher for tesco cc purchases
if this isnt a con then i really dont know what is!
p.s the avis web price is still quoted over the phone but increases when u say that u want pay with tesco cc vouchers0 -
Are we that naaive-its just about different pricing structures, let the unwary beware.0

Wouldn't the receipt show it had been purchased with vouchers in the first place? Most retailers are wise to this kind of scam and therefore don't allow it.If giving advice on how to scam,it helps if you are sure of your facts.
It has been done but just not by me. If you pay with vouchers and then return the item they won't refund cash they issue a credit voucher, this has been done successfully. As far as I know it wasn't done as a scam someone genuinely returned an item as was given a credit voucher. Watch you don't get too dizzy on that high horse.:rotfl:0 -

Any voucher whether a Tesco voucher or the offers on the back of a car park ticket have terms such as: "This voucher may not be used or combined with any other offer."
So the wording is strictly that you can normally only get discounts on the full retail price. Where's the problem in that? The man without a signature.0 -

There was no clearing up needed, I was well aware of the issue when I spent 20 minutes typing out a response (2 responses in fact!) to help you to try and understand but you obviously haven't spent 5 minutes reading it!!
I have explained all about pricing structures and that vouchers can't be used in conjunction with any other offer.
If you really want an answer to the only question you actually asked "is this illegal?" the answer is NOGood Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!
