Using someone elses credit card

  • I work in the Post Office and when people come into withdraw money they have to put their card into a machine in front of us. We don't handle the cards at all, but many - especially elderley - when you ask if they can put their pin number in they will say it as they press the numbers. Anybody can hear. It was much safer when they had a book and had to sign we could then do all our checks.

Ay election time my son picked up the wrong polling card and voted as Mrs Ka7e. He had longish hair at the time, is slim, but has definately masculine features and body shape. 2 hours later, I voted using his card. I told them I obviously wasn't a Mr Ka7e, but explained their previous error and they let me vote to avoid any trouble.

ive seen someone do this, it was quite funny because she said it as she typed it and she got it wrong so the cashier asked her to do it again and she did exactly the same!

Reminds me of when I was developing a system for a financial institution.
To protect the encryption key two managers went separately into a room, wrote down half the key and entered it. They then sealed the half key in an envelope and they were locked in a safe in case they were needed in an emergency.
    That was the theory.
Except they went into the room one after the other but instead of sealing their bits of paper in envelopes they waited for each other then showed them to me and asked if they were ok as secret codes!

My dad got asked for further ID while we were out shopping, one of his last cards isn't CnP and before he could sign the girl asked for further ID, he was taken back a bit as this has never happend to him before but the girl said that it was store policy on sign cards now to prevent fraud.
The only trouble is he doesn't carry around any ID. Wallet full of CCs, DCs and store cards in the same name convinced her that he was really who the card said he was :rotfl: (He has an old style paper driving linace and not a plastic card)
Im always being asked for ID when I use my CC in central london, but then I get asked for ID when buying a lotto ticket
I remember when this was just a little website! :money:
  • I got threatened by a customer once, since I wouldnt accept her boyfriends credit card, I always check the name on the card before swippin or inserting it, and seeing a MR on a card handed to me by a 20 somethign female didnt add up!

My understanding is if the card doenst belong to you, then you dont have permission to use it, and shouldnt try to. the garage was wrong to accept that as payment, and if a complain was made about it, word should get back to his card merchant services who wont be to impressed wiht the matter
