Glad to hear you're back in the saddle :D How's the bump? :D

It's all good sar, felt a bit sick for a couple of days but back to normal it seems now. It's really early days though and at my age all sorts of things could go wrong, so at the moment it's one day at a time. we haven't said a thing to anyone in the real world yet and we'll keep it that way for a few weeks I think. First doctors appointment on wednesday when no doubt I'll have the 'are you insane?' lecture :D

if you've done any self employed work up to and including 4 April, yes.

Registering is dead easy, just call them and they take your name and address and what you are doing.

Tell them you are already paying National Insurance through your salaried job at Argos and they will send you a certificate that makes you exempt from paying extra NI contributions.

If in 2008/2009 you are going to earn over £4000+ (can't remember the exact figure) on AS, you'll need to just call the NI office and they will arrange for you to pay the extra NI, it's done by DD and is something like £2.20 a week.

Doing one this year with just a party or two under your belt will be good practise for getting your head around it all for this time next year when you'll be sales woman of the year !

If you haven't earned £5,220 (basic personal allowance) across both jobs then you won't have any tax to pay and even if you do, it will be literally a few pounds - 22% of your profit.
Oh god no it'd be nowhere near that... I've told tax credits £550 for the year just gone and I've only had one party!
