When will RSS (Really simply syndication) be available ?

I posted a question (what feels like a year ago) asking about when RSS would be introduced.
A forum this active really needs it. Even found the option in the manual

lol
If a site provides RSS then you can see the latest stories/topics without visiting it.
When IE7 comes out just about everyone will start to use it. But for now it's really only for us who use other browsers or have a newsreader program.
Some websites let you view RSS feeds without a reader -
Yahoo have been allowing RSS feeds on their MyYahoo pages for a while and Google have started building personalized pages that can use RSS (www.google.co.uk/ig).
e.g. Here I've told my page where the Old Style feed is and it shows me new Old Style threads when I go to www.google.co.uk/ig0 -
oh wow!
thats really clever! (is it sad that im impressed by that?!)
will it work for everyone, or do i need certain specs on my pc/isp/browser thingy?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

No idea
It's still beta (test) so google will probably rename it when it's fully ready.- Get yourself a google account if you haven't already
- Go to post #2 here and click on the board you want to add. You'll see a funny looking 'XML' page. Copy it's url.
- Then you can go back to www.google.co.uk/ig and click Personalize your google homepage then Create a section. You'll be given a box 'Search by topic or feed URL:' where you can paste the address from stage 2
on the left and copy the page's url
Once you've added stuff to google.ig, you can drag things about on the page to put them where you want.
If you want to get a newsreader program, there are plenty out there e.g http://www.pluck.com/ which adds a sidebar to IE. But newseaders aren't as user friendly as they could be.
Hopefully IE7 will make it so easy to add feeds that everyone will be using them soon.0 -
We use IE at work, so can't use RSS on the browser. However I've been using Bloglines for a little while to pick up RSS feeds, it is very good.
