Well Comet delivered my american fridge-freezer yesterday at 7am.
We are dazzled by the light. Our old fridge light only worked for a year and that was 15 years ago!!!
We are now busy re-designing the kitchen. Basically I like the dark oak doors so we are looking to keep them. Change the knobs to handles though.
Will now have a 90cm range cooker. I have not had a cooker for 4 years:o:o using a camp cooker since our old cooker packed up 4 years ago.
Will be getting a new sink. The original sink (26years) always had a dent in the draining board (man stood on it).
Will change the door to a glazed door that will open into the hall and not the kitchen, to give light and better access to the cupboards behind the door.
We haven't priced thing up as we will be doing it ourselves. Apart from the appliances the changes should be about £300. Just have to get energy and time to do it.
Spent today tidying up and cleaning the kitchen and helping OH design the kitchen onto his computer.. he likes plans and things.. normally designs chemical plants.. which are like kenwood mixers for giants 50' tall.
Can't decide what worktop.. (this one has WORN out) nor what flooring (have the original yellowish-beige lino tiles at present)
Ideas welcome0 -

DON'T BUY ANYTHING ONLINE FROM DIXONS - THIS IS A WARNING - DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM DIXONS
of course this is my own personal opinion but seeing as they sent our oven with a big dent in the top, no ignition button, one oven not working and a big dent in the side and then refused to do anything about it i feel justified in my comments!!!
Contact Trading Standards/Consumer Rights people. Just managed to argue the case with my Mam's car repair with their help (needed to be able to quote exactly what they did wrong which acts applied etc)
I'm still trying to catch up on the thread :rotfl:Ds1s 'itchy' spots looking more and more like chicken pox, darn, hope DS2 doesn't get it or he'll probably have to go into hospital.
One day I might be more organised...........

Right, started to catch up earlier and then my visitors for the community meeting arrived. They have, now, fortunately, gone. Oooh, does that sound so ungrateful and uncharitable? It's not meant to, it's just every time I meet them they go through the same stuff and it's difficult to keep them on track and find out what the CURRENT situation is. I've heard the past situation so many times, I could repeat it in my sleep!! But I've given them some avenues to explore and have promised to look something up for them. Bless them, their hearts are in the right places but they are still novices at campaigning. But that's all I have to say about that....
Those who saw the gardeners bum - I hope it wasn't too shocking - I personally certainly wouldn't call it sexy or worth looking at
Mudbath - the taxi - happens all the time. The house immediately opposite (not the one on the corner with the light yellow wall you can see fully) is a house of multiple occupation and lots of taxi drivers seem to visit or live there. Day before yesterday morning when I went out at just before 7.30am for work, there were three taxis parked up in the middle of the road - blocking my exit from the drive. I just walked briskly to my car and said in a loud voice "I trust you're moving!" - one said "oh, yes, sorry" and they were gone by the time I'd turned my car engine on.
Chunky - re the limited company - have you spoken to an accountant about it? Or your local Business Link organisation? I run my own limited company as I work as a freelance and it's much easier than doing the umbrella stuff. And, questionably, more profitable too.
Chasingbutterflies - if you can get over your phobia of birds, please, please, leave the bucket they are bathing in for them to use. You will be so rewarded by watching their antics.... (can you tell I'm an avid bird (in the feathered variety sense! watcher?). With the amount of building going on all over the country, they have less and less places to habit
Dusty - yes I was home a tad earlier - though I left work at the same time. There was nothing on the roads which was v. nice - even with the roadwork thingy - though they seem to be doing the closures and traffic lights between 9 and 4pm at the moment so all I have is coned off lanes and no hold up. There's been a different orientation of cones each day this week! It may be very different next week when the schools are back.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
