Hi there,
I am having a problem trying to install the e7even internet settings.
I have sucessfully managed to install the drivers on the modem, However, I can't seem to be able to log onto the http://10.0.0.2 address.
Should I try to be accessing this address using the broad band modem , or through my standard modem using my existing Fresserve Anytime dial up internet connection?
Shoud I delete my Freeserve internet connection from the PC?
Many thanks

you should be accessing it through the broadband modem, however is the address correct that you have above?
try http://192.168.0.1 or add a 2 instead of the 1
I wouldnt bother deleting your freeserve just yet until you are up and runnin with E7
PS are you using Firefox, if you are try Explorer alsoThese are the Good 'ol Days just wait and see!0 -
Is it a Safecom modem? If so, the 10.0.0.2 address should be OK. What operating system are you using? If it is XP, open a command window (MS-DOS prompt) and type ipconfig. This will give you information about your IP settings. You want the modem to be assigning an IP address to your PC and it should be 10.0.0.x where x equals a number in the range 2-254.0

It might be useful to leave it there as a back up in case you have broadband problems.draker wrote:

You should forget about the Freeserve connection all together while trying to set up broadband unless you need to go online and still can't get connected.Torgwen..........

e7even user here but can't help you as I'm using an Ethernet based modem and its admin login routine responds to http://login.router
Good advice now that you have a unused/backup dialup Internet a/c is that you should disconnect the actual PC modem cable from your phone socket so that there is no possibility whatsoever of any rogue dialer hijacking your phoneline for premium ££££ calls or remote-control. Easy enough to reinsert the phone jack if/when you want to use the dialup Internet a/c again.
Two further tips:
- if you want to keep your Freeserve email a/cs live you may have to use the dialup to their ISP # at least every 30 or 90 days (tends to vary by ISP, eg Tiscali 30 days for free SMS, BT Yahoo! 90 days)
- e7even.com allows you to use their smtp.e7even.com server to SEND mail as if from your Freeserve a/c - ie when the other party receives the email it appears to be from your Freeserve a/c and their reply will by default go to the Freeserve a/c. See e7even settings instructions (ie just change your Freeserve a/c in Outlook to outgoing mail server = smtp.e7even.com , once you've got it working of course).0 -
When I switched from Freeserve (Wanadoo) to E7even they told me the Freeserve address would be mine for life. Still receiving freeserve mail via POP and sending via the E7even SMTP server.mk-donald wrote:- if you want to keep your Freeserve email a/cs live you may have to use the dialup to their ISP # at least every 30 or 90 days (tends to vary by ISP, eg Tiscali 30 days for free SMS, BT Yahoo! 90 days)

When my brother left freeserve he lost his email the day they cut him off. If this happens immediately register with payg and you should get your old email address back. You either need to dial up once every 90 days or do go through the account retrieval procedure. You can receive emails through pop.freeserve.com but you will need to use smtp.e7even.com to send emails as freeserve will block this as part of their anti-spamming.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. Everything is all up an running via broadband now. Can't believe the speed compared to dial up!
I take on board your comments re the freeserve email account.

Hi Draker. I too recently moved from wanadoo dial up and then naims dial up to e7even broadband and after a hiccup sorted out by Mike, am now enjoying whizzing about. Yes, it truely is amazing for those of us who had been dial up for so many years. You want to keep your eye on e7even's home page, as I believe they make increased speed offers from time to time.
If you asked what the downside was, I'd say that their email section could be better, no address book. So before you notify your contacts of the email address, I'd consider setting up sopmething like yahoo etc, that have all the bells and whistles etc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I am shortly (hopefully) going over to e7even broadband from dial up BT; does anyone know if I can retain my BTinternet email address or do I have to make payments to my old BT isp?0

You can downgrade a BT account to PAYG on their website. This retains your email address. Then you only have to dial in once every three months to keep it going. You can use mail.btinternet.com to download your mail and smtp.e7even.com to upload it. Cost 20p per year.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.
