How can I measure how much I use the internet?
I have broadband with a 15GB limit (BT Yahoo) and want to switch to another provider to save money. I have never breached the 15GB limit, so I have no idea how much I use the internet (could be 1gig a month, could be 14). If I use less than, say, 2GB then I could save even more by getting limited broadband. But I don't know. Are there any downloads I could get which would log my interent usage?

Does the BT Yahoo service have a stats page.? this is usually the most reliable. I use one called NetMeter, but this would only work for you if you never switch the PC off (and never have a lock-up..)0

They have a very dubious stats page. Originally the subscription was unlimited, them they introduced the 15gb limit and said we would get a monitor on their stats page to see how much we use (I was waiting for this before switihing to answer the above question). Now, however, though, they have said we won't get one, just be sent an email if we go over 15gb.
Unfortunately I do turn the PC off, it does crash (once a week aprox.) and the broadband is thread through a router to 2 other PCs (which are less used, but my brother does download songs and stuff). I could use it for a trial period though just to get a rough idea.0 -
You can get it at http://readerror.gmxhome.de/ - at least its free..0

Metronet have a stats page where you can view your usage daily. As they charge for usage in arrears this is a very useful check. Add to this good speeds and excellent c/s. Any questions ask on ADSLguide, they are always lurking there.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Thanks, both of you - I will download netmeter and try it out.0
