Being offered a free phone with my contract renewal.
I think the leading contenders he was pushing were the Nokia 6300 or SE K770.
I scuttled over to t-mobile and the carphone warehouse website because I remember a comparison tool so you could see what was what, but no joy there.
HAve either one of these phones crossed your path ~ comments and thoughts welcome!

Personally I don't liek the 6300. I used one for a few months then sold it; got another (nice red one) but sold it immediately and used the sim in my S/E's. The 6300 has a really nice keypad, but I didn't like the square menu control and the menus and functions were less user-friendly than my S/E's. The battery life was also very poor. I am a fan of S/E and would find it hard to sell one of those -even though I now have nine! I've not had the k700 but it's later than mine and I think I'd definitely prefer it rather than the 6300 - unless I was after a higher return on the deal by selling the phone! Having said that, the 6300 had good reviews and a lot of fans and was one of the most popular last year. Guess it's a matter of personal preference and function. This site may help - I use it a fair amount though it's not ads good as it was. Both phones are reviewed on it:-

The k800i is one of my favourite phones and it seems the k770i is a later version - so I would expect it to be much better than the 6300.0 -
I'd been a huge Nokia fan and had nothing but Nokia phones for 8 years, then after three months of the 6300 I sold it because of the appalling battery life. Everything about the phone is average at best, nothing really stands out. The k770i is an update of the k800i, I got that after selling the 6300 and absolutely love it, so I'd recommend the Sony.Sigless0

I own a 6300 and have used the k770i a fair bit too. Basically each has the following advantages-
6300 feels much better built and is more solid, has a better keypad, is a bit narrower (when you look at it face on), and has a better screen.
K770i has better camera (higher mp count, led flash, and lens cover), 3g (faster data if you have 3g sim and are in a 3g area and video calling), better battery, better web browser (but not too important if you use opera mini).
I love my 6300 but overall the k770i is a better phone.If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0 -
6300 = Poor battery life.
Great phone but the battery life is the worst I have ever had on a Nokia phone. My aged Nokia 3100 lasts longer even with its original 4 year old battery.0 -
Thanks for your comments guys!
I'd tried to find a site to do a comparison, but had no joy, so your comments were really helpful.
The Nokia 6500 wouldn't be worth a punt if I could get them to go for it?
Problme is that I currently pay £3.99 line rental and can't be too cheeky with my requests."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0
