Indoor DIGITAL aerial for small portable TV?

Does anyone have good results from any of the many supposed 'indoor' freeview aerials now available for digital tvs - in anything but a prime reception area?
If so, can they state the make and model, please?

A year or so back we tried a couple of so-called Freeview indoor aerials. Neither worked at all well, and one was the highest gain we could find for an indoor aerial (something like 43db).
We even tried using a signal booster in conjunction with them but to no avail (and we live in a good digital reception area).
So my advice would be to save your money and get an outdoor aerial instead if you want any chance of decent digital reception.0 -
Am bumping this to see what the day shift think.
Is that right then... that the digital 'industry' has killed off truly portable tvs within the home..?
I'll bet they want that news 'broadcast'...0 -

No because it's not taking into account the digital switchover which will significantly boost the signal when analogue is no longer needed.
Just to point out there's no such thing as a "digital aerial". There's just aerials, some have higher gain than others. That's it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I have a Telecam tce2000 in an office which struggled to get a signal with a tatty old aerial but now is rock solid. Worth a punt at a tenner.
Here's where I got my info - http://www.ricability-digitaltv.org.uk/pages/test-reports/indoor-aerials/recommendations/best-indoor-aerials.htm“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
And wider bandwidth. Which isn't necessarily better, but makes aerials more universal which suits manufacturers.superscaper wrote: »No because it's not taking into account the digital switchover which will significantly boost the signal when analogue is no longer needed.

Superscaper's right. Until the digital switchover in each area, I suspect you'd have to be able to see the transmitter from your window to have any chance with an indoor aerial. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Hi all,
Well I can see the Winter Hill transmitter, and believe me, reception is pants on an indoor aerial.

We use external aerials but for a while a couple of TVs used an aerial put in the loft and they were ok. And we're a long way from Winter Hill (which is our transmitter). Probably a problem with the geography or you're using a very low gain aerial. Either way, next year the signal power will be boosted significantly."She is quite the oddball. Do they boost the digital signal as soon as the analogue signal is switched off then?
ie the same day?

Hi all,
Hi superscaper,
You said you are a long way from Winter Hill.
How far?
I do understand if you don''t want to post an exact location, but I make no secret of the fact that I live in Bury, hence my signature often refers to black puddings, or the Met, or the Steam Trains, or something just local

I live near (north of) Blackpool, and I think it's about 25 miles. If someone wants to stalk me I'd actually like to meet that person out of curiosity, who'd have to be even sadder than me."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
