  • Hi Sorry not been on for a while as they dog bit the internet cable while chewing its bone. managed to borrow a lead from mother in law to save some cash.
So far have done a lot of cutting back including shopping. Met with family last night so took £20 and once it was gone, it was gone and came home.
Also managed to win £20 of pig backs vouchers so feel like it was telling me to keep going.
have some bits on ebay and had a day owed to me from work so took friday off and gutted bedroom. have 4 boxes of boot fair stuff so doing that over the next few weeks. also found loads of change whilst tidying so filled money box up. Once its full will take it to the bank and pay it off towards ikea card.

Feeling much better now about it all, and am sure I can do it. Off now for the third tip run of the day.

Do you have a rightmove link for the house?. I hope it sells quickly :(.
  • what do you feed the dog and 2 cats on? are you getting the best / cheapest deal for these (whilst also being nutritious) x

Pets at home had a great deal on BOGOF on the puppies food so brough 4 bags and got 4 free which made it alot cheaper than the rest. This should last us until she is on junior food which we can buy in the really large bags which will save some money.
Cats arent fussed to be honest so they now have basic cat food, and any left over meat from our dinners.

Yes we have a rightmove link, and have reduced the house price a little and since then we have had 5 viewings with another 4 booked for this week. Everyone is interested just they all have to sell their own first, but fingers crossed an offer will come in soon.
We have seen another house that we can buy, but keep the same mortgage payments as we have at the mo. This house needs a lot of work doing to it which my partner, his brothers and his dad ( all in the building trade can help us with) so we should be able to make a good profit on this as well. Hopefully if we keep going at this rate we can be debt free and mortgage free within 5 years. :j

    quick update.

Been told today by my solicitor that I will have the £7k payout from my car accident 5 years ago, in my account by the end of next week.

Going to use £5k to pay off debts, and the other £2k to finish off property we live in so we can get that on the market as well, and book my flights to my best friends wedding. yipppppeeeeeeeeeeee.

Startind to see some light at the end of the tunnell.

feed 2 people, dog and 2 cats on £240.00. Used to be £300 a month but cut it back this month to £240.00.

I don't know if it this is any help but since having to struggle myself (same household of 2 people, a dog and two cats), I have given up on 'luxury' food. (Can't think of any other way to put it), I discovered Iceland supermarket and have worked out we can eat sensibly and rather well, on just £25 (for the two of us) a week using a lot of their products. Believe me, I have a very fussy hubby and even he admits that the food is ok to eat.
I get 20kg sacks of Dr John dog food (all in one) for £6, failing that I use Lucky all in one which is the same price. As she is overweight anyway, a sack lasts about a month or more. She also has any left overs and (harking back to my farm working days) I boil up veg peelings etc for her to add to the dry food.
Our cats have (they are so fussy) Morrisons own brand tin food at £1.88 for 6 tins and own brand dry food for their on demand snacks.

just by doing all this I have saved money. Of course, hubby will go the local shops and bring back something he shouldn't like cooked meat from our butcher but on the whole we have managed to get our weekly groceries right down.
I also make full use of the Pound shop, where things like shampoo, soap, air fresheners etc can be really cost saving.

At first I thought oh no, not cheap food please! But honestly, its not all bad and at least we have grub to keep us going.

Hope you feel better soon and ready to do battle. ;)
    April2008.Total debt £4353.55. (Loan £649.80; NW CC £370.51; PO CC £1300; catalogue £188.96; Argos card £344.28); Overdraft £1500.

Im quite impressed, this week my groceries will cost £16.19, didnt think I could improve on last weeks 19.88 but I have lol.

Pet food is seperate and the 3 cats and 1 dog are currently on Sainsburys & gocat which was cheapest when I last bought. I have also managed to reduce my pet food bill for the others (1 hamster, 2 rabbits, 3 rats) by buying online, that saved me £20 per month. Definately recommend looking online.

we always planned to sell both so that we can live in the next house and do it up at the same time. that way we are only paying one mortgage and that mortgage will come out of our renovating budget.
Bit scary as when both sell we will have no where till we find another house.
