Each to their own, if you can justify your actions to yourself then fine, I still stick to what I said though :p . I don't take milk in my coffee either, so I simply don't pick any up (unless DH is there as he takes milk in his tea).
The milk is there for people who take milk in their coffee or tea NOT to take home for ones kitties!!...and before anyone asks yes I do have a cat! Do you ever point out that you won't need any milk so they bring less, or ask if you can have the leftover stuff before helping yourself to it ? If not, this is stealing- taking without permission.

If they charged you less for a black coffee than a white one and you paid for black then took the milk - that would be stealing, but to call it stealing when taking the milk home which you don't use at the table surely can't be theft!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

remember everytime you are in Boots to put your Advantage card in the machine. Last time I was in I got a voucher for free Boots bubble bath and some sweets. Well worth checking, I hadn't spent anything in Boots for ages so I don't think you need to spend on a regular basis to get the freebies.

Do you know what? I completely forget to do that! Ta. :D

To clarify - once and for all - if one doesnt use 1 helping of milk, 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 napkin at the time at the table - then one can take it home, as one has paid for it. Taking a 2nd helping of milk, a further packet of sugar or a 2nd napkin and taking them home is theft.

Theft by customers means that future customers will find their prices have been put up to compensate - thus honest people will be paying more than they should have to for their drinks - as the cafe/restaurant owner will make sure that they themselves dont cover the cost of these thefts and will place those costs on our shoulders instead.

I think you have put this very well :)
I would add that personally I would not take any napkins, cream etc but would take half a sandwich that my LO had not eaten.
As I said, each to their own, and if you can justify your actions who am I to tell you what to do. Comment upon, yes.

Where I work students have to pay 5p for their sachets of sauce. Sometimes they buy 3 or 4 and don't use them all and they get left on the table to be cleared away with the dirty plates.
Some staff just bin the unused sachets with the rest of the rubbish, others put them back in the pot for re sell!
I don't, I take them home. Is this stealing??

I think some confusion has come about , on my part possibly :o , as we often eat at places where you pick up your condiments yourself, so as I take black coffee I would just never pick it up. If they bring it to you then I suppose that is slightyl different but I would just leave it there tbh.
Also if they bring the milk little cartons to the table, what is to stop them reusing anything you leave, if it is not open ? Not sure if they do, but they maybe should!
PS The Boots card thing is great, I always try the kiosk now :D

Yes if your employer does not know you take them as you have not paid for them. thb though I would rather someone had them than they be wasted!
What is the actual store policy ?

Can somebody please tell me how the machine works for putting your Boots vantage card in, and what it does. We have a card which we use at the till when purchasing stuff from them but I've never noticed any machine elsewhere in the store that does anything else. Does it give you free vouchers or something?

Basically, put your Advantage card in the machine (usually located near the door and is normally white plastic box and looks rather like a big portable cash machine, if you don't see it ask a member of staff) and it displays your name and how many points you have it also shows a box that says something like "view your offers" and you press that and you can scroll through all your offers. Some will be money off, others a BOGOF, extra points when spending certain amounts as well as a few freebies. On each screen you have the opportunity to print the voucher for that offer and its dispensed into a box underneath the screen. You then take your vouchers and hand them over at the till with related goods etc. Hope that helps.
