  • My best money saver from this thread was the tip about buying bottles of cheap value brand bubble bath. Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's do huge bottles of own brand for just 18p.

I then use these to refill the hand wash containers, 1 bottle does 3 handwash bottles, so just 6p per refill.

this saves me a fortune as we used probably 2-3 handwash a week, so instead of over £3 its just 18 pence now.

    Morrisons do one too.

Me too, it also makes good shower gel.

    white vinegar

If you have a greengrocer/fruit & veg shop near you try that. Mine does 5 litre containers for £1.99.

For some reason they only sell them during the onion pickling season.

Another way I heard of once, was to get some cling film to cover your windows and heat the edges where the cling film and frame meet with a hairdryer so that the cling film sticks to the frame, I haven't tried it but will this winter as my daughters bedroom gets really cold as it faces the front of the house and is over the garage and I'm trying not to have the heating on upstairs this winter as I can't afford it!!

After reading for about 3 weeks I have to post on this one. I bought a pack of this film last year. It was about £4.99 for B*Q. I did my huge bay window, the upstairs bay window and the backdoor. It lasted all winter and kept the woodwork nice and clean from condensation too. We could really feel the difference.

Today I did the dining room and back door again. All for £4.99! (I did run out of the double sided tape for the back door but I used ordinary tape and it was fine.

    ps
pages are being added on quicker than I have time to read. I don't have mush time - which is why I'm making jam at 12.45 am:o

  • Do experiment with disposable razors. Some of them are an awful lot better than they used to be - some are now double-bladed. Remember, razors will only cut if you're careless.

Morrisons do an EXCELLENT bag of Value Double-Bladed Razors. Far better than the rubbishy, blunt Wilkinson Sword blades, and at a small fraction of the price. Excellent everyday shave.

I've been buying value bottles of bubble bath for a couple of years now and using it as hand wash. However, I add water 50 50 which works just as well and so you could reduce your refill to 3p.

I don't like it used as shower gel as I find it seems to make my skin very dry. I use Tesco's 9p shower gel.
  • Sorry if this has been posted before, but I go down to Leeds market and ask the fruit and veg guys if they have any spare greens for the (imaginary) rabbit. Get enough free greens to make a nice stock for soup. :D
