Was told by the lady at the farm that they take home lots of veg that the mice have nibbled, she says they cant sell them so she just chops away the bits the mice have got to and uses the rest!!! Not sure if I'd do that but obv not doing her any harm she's been going years!!! :j
When you boil the veg, it'll destroy any "funny" things on them. Considering that farmers still use natural fertiliser too....!! :rotfl:(which rhimes well with the "too" BTW!)0 -

Hmmm didn't think about the natural fertiliser.... ick to my habit of eating while I pick then!!! :rotfl:Though the OH does often tell me I'm full of it:D
Thinking about that she did offer me some of the mouse nibbled fare cheap so will pick up a box next time!!! She's also the lady who passes me on scrummy gin recipes as I love flavoured gin but its hard to get/expensive... She deserves a OS medal for all she's taught me and all free!!!
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0 -

Same here too. Now, the cat gets its own chicken every week. Having said that, being endlessly frugal could get quite tiresome if there was the chance not to be ...0 -

That's because she spent years HAVING to buy value and thinking "Once these bl**dy kids are gone and not draining my purse it's Waitrose all the way for me"
Let her go to Waitrose, she's earned it.0 -

Fully agreed, My mum deserves her spoils so much (its why I cook for her once a week)

my two latest favouritest penny savings are as follows
* Make ice up in freezer and always have a freezer bag full ready to grab. So if i go to friends for drinks, instead of warm drinks, or buying bags of ice, just grab and go. My friends make fun of how organised I am. I only have one ice tray but just empty and refill every so often
* Making up a coffee to take to work - obvious yes. Milk coffee and a dab of sugar in a beaker with a spoon. Take to work, add hot water, coffee canteen money saved. Bliss.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
