Can anyone come up with another use for body lotion? I have quite a bit from old Christmas presents etc.

I use it instead of shaving foam/gel when shaving my legs. No nicks or cuts.

still wasted money and energy tho.. People who do this prob also leave other gadgets on standby etc.. Mind you I am admittedly the sort to pick up a penny in the street...:p

I agree, even minute savings make a difference over time. And for me, making small changes and realising they were not hard encouraged me to make others. I wasn't gaining anything by leaving my charger plugged in; it was just a bad habit. My electricity bill has reduced by about €20 a month and it's partly down to little changes I've made like turning off lights, not leaving things on standby and unplugging chargers.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I have to get back into money-saving, as I've just taken on a new mortgage  so I'm reading this with great interest. So far all I do is water done full fat milk, buy snack size sweets instead of full size, buy mainly Tesco own brand products and try to recycle any nice paper as birthday wrap. I recently bought an item for my house and it came wrapped in the loveliest flowered paper. I used it to wrap my daughters birthday presents.

In the UK leaving a charger on 24 hours per day would cost 1p every 8 to 9 days. So clearly the bulk of your savings comes from switching off other things.

I'm not saying don't switch them off, I'm saying don't think that switching them off will save "a lot of money , electricity and energy"

I have a big bottle of HP sauce left over from a barbecue. The children won't eat it, and I can't. So, a few nights ago, I squeezed about three tablespoonfuls into the ketchup bottle, shook it up and put it back in the cupboard.

The children haven't noticed. So I reckon the rest of the bottle will be disappearing the same way ;)

You're right, it's a tiny saving all right. But all the little things I'm doing are adding up and spur me on to make bigger changes. Some of my bill decrease is due to a reduction in the price of electricity. But I've also reduced the number of units I'm using so it's not just the price reduction. In any case, it's all good!

one charger wouldn't make a lot of difference but when you have 6 people with mobile phones in the house it starts to add up, especially when the kids have more than one and can't decide which to use and leave both chargers plugged in! And then there's the cameras, TVs, PCs and music systems and everything else that the kids (and the husband) can never be bothered to switch off...

Now, this isn't very moneysaving in the short term but Lidl have just done a RC 4 socket set for £15 and I have bought one for each of the main rooms in the house so that whoever visits or goes in there I will be able to turn off everything at the plug in each room with one button. I'm going to stick the remotes on the wall by the light switch. (I know an able bodied person could whip around and do it in seconds but I can't, especially when the switches are behind furniture.)
