Sneaky ways to save the pennies

Hair shampoo - somebody has probably already mentioned this but we transfer the contents of cheap bottles of hair shampoo to plastic hand pumps, as used for hand washing. When handling big bottles of hair shampoo upside down invariably more comes out than you need, and four short pumps of the container proves more than sufficient for a hair wash, making cheap shampoo last even longer.0

Soft drink cans - our local Tesco has one of the machines which gives green(ish) clubcard points for items recycled. Currently give two points per can, so I collect of my colleagues (again), who seem to drink a sickening number of cans each day and then cash them in. By saving up the cans, 100 dropped into the machine will translate into £8 of deals vouchers, given that 2 points x4 = 8p. So it's true, every little does help!
Are these in store or in the carpark? I get through loads of cans and could do with points for them (its not often I go over to tesco so could save them up). Do you have to put your card in it or something????0 -
Some time ago somebody on here was wondering about drying vegetables. If you grow enough to process, you might be interested in the Vigo DA 750 electronic dyer. it has sdjustable temperature levels, with air passing through four vented trays. Dries food in 2 – 8 hours. Each tray holds up to 21 oz of fruit and 14 ox veg. Up to 8 trays can be used. Stands 13 inches tall, 13.25 inches wide. https://www.vigopresses.co.uk email: sales@vigoltd.com

Not only can you add lentals, but you can also add value porridge oats as well! Made a huge pot of spag bol yesterday in my slowcooker with 400g mince, onion, 2x tinned toms, tom puree, crumbled stock cube, teaspoon of marmite, big handful of lental and big handful of porridge oats. Added some water as the oats and lentals really soak it up and I managed to get 8 portions out of it! Next time im going to make a chilli with mince, onion, 2 cans toms, tom puree, stock cube, marmite, 2 tins kidney beans, some chopped peppers and chilli powder, big handful of lentals and oats and water to top up (just been given a tip to add some cocoa powder as well to give it more 'body') so hoping to get at least the same number of portions out of that!MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year. One thing I forgot I do until last night...
Instead of defrosting stuff on the bench I stick it into the fridge. It takes longer but the frozen food keeps the fridge cool and saves money. My fridge is really old so any savings are welcome.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -
Argh I ALWAYS forget to add the red lentils, chickpeas and porridge to things I make! :mad:0

Thinking I might start doing this again, especially when the winter months come in. Right now I'm washing my hair in the morning and having breakfast in the back garden and let my hair dry in the sun.
Does anyone still pleat their hair after its washed? You can stand there and agonize........

When my hair is wet it usually gets put up in a bulldog style clip as its getting a bit long to wear down. Unfortunately this doesn't let it dry at all within the twist, so after a few days of doing this it starts to smell musty! :eek:0
