Guess the weed!

Anyone have any ideas what this weed is?

http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/7912587

My 18 month old daughter told me they were carrots! Trouble is they are all over the garden that we inherited when we bought the house and I need to get rid of them.

Thanks

Gosh, those are whacking roots they've thrown down, Ted!

The leaves look like the basic foxglove - so I wouldn't let your little'un get too close when they flower, if you leave a few in.

When I read her i.d. of 'carrots', I was prepared for wretched yarrow.
    Be thankful!

    Good luck!

........now to post my own question.

They certainly took some effort to get up! Must have about two dozen of them all across my lawn (I use the word lawn in the loosely). Never mind, it'll be good exercise tomorrow!

Not sure from the photos exactly what shape the leaves are - but could it be horseradish?

Those leaves would not be hairy/furry, would be more dock-like.
    Here's the common foxglove:

We have horse radish in our garden, its a nightmare, luckily its not growing at the mo, and I am hoping to get it out the lawn this year with weed and feed. Tried digging up last year, but lost the battle.

    Looks like comfrey to me.

Definitely not foxgloves, they have shallow roots and are easy to pull up. I'd say comfrey too.
