Cash Mini Isa Question

Hi there,
I have just applied to the Alliance and Leicester Cash Mini Isa, however I recieved an email from them with the following request:
"Thank you for applying for a Direct ISA Issue 4. In order to complete your
application we do require some further information from you.
However, in order to ensure that your Direct ISA is opened before the end
of the tax year, you will need to take the information required to any
Alliance & Leicester branch, where you will be able to open an account and
pay in money."
I would imagine that the information they require is some sort of ID which is fair enough. However, I live and work in Bracknell and the nearest branch for me to get to easily is Reading - which I won't be able to do during the week before the last deposit date.
My question is what can I do? The main reason I went for this one was so that I can manage it online, however I could go into Barclays in Bracknell on Monday and open an ISA straight away, but would I be able to manage it online?
Also if I did try to open one up with Barclays would it flag up that I've tried to open one up with A&L and would I get a slapped wrist? I don't mind cancelling the A&L request if I can use the Barclays one and I can manage it online.
Thanks in advance,
Lewis

It has been posted on here that Barclays are no longer accepting ISA applications for tax year 2007/08.
