This happened to me once and I did change the registry settings and it worked.
Be very careful editing the registry.
To run the registry: Start -> Run... -> type in regedit
Before you make the change can you post here what you've been told to change?0 -
Editing the registry is pretty straightforward, but you must do a backup or create a System Restore point before you change anything.
To get started go to Start -> Run and type in regedit.
If you post the link that you found that gives the specific solution to your problem I can help further.

Of course your uninstall of the 2 apps might be totally coincidental and you may just have an IDE cable come loose. Have you moved your pc at all? You may have disturbed the cables. Are the drives detected by the bios?

I just read on another forum that just reinstalling itunes also fixes the problem. This might be easier for some than messing about in the registry.
Hope it helps, Nelly.t0 -
erm cant find the google link i found the other day tog but other peeps had problems when removed these files ipod and i tunes too. i havent moved the pc at all.
i just kicking myself for not saving the link i remember it said you had to remove two bits from the registry then it would detect them again.
